ICC CWC 2023 NZ vs NED Match Preview
Team New Zealand
The Kiwis play professional cricket thoroughly. The finalists of the ICC CWC 2015, 2019, ICC T20 World Cup 2021 and the WTC 2021 are eyeing for an ICC trophy this time. They could manage to hold on to the WTC 2021 trophy after beating India in the final. Their regular skipper Kane Williamson missed the first game against England due to rehab and recovery but he will be back for the game against the Netherlands. The finest batsman in the Kiwis squad will lift the spirit of the team and add more strength to the batting line-up.
The ICC had conducted some ICC CWC 2023 warm-up matches at different venues to get familiar with the Indian pitches. New Zealand had played two matches, one against Pakistan and the other against South Africa. They won both of them. In the first match, Pakistan batted first and after a nervy start, the skipper Babar Azam and the wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan played excellent hands and some lower-order attack took their score to 345 for 5. In response, Kiwis took the time and then bashed all Pakistani bowlers. Rachin Ravindra shone with his brilliant 97, Williamson and Daryl Mitchell scored half-centuries while Mark Chapman finished the match with his magnificent unbeaten 65 runs knock.
In the second match, New Zealand batted first and they played well. Devon Conway and Tom Latham made the fifties and some lower-order attack took their total to 321 for 6. In response, South Africa did not start well but they steadied their innings well. Rassie van der Dussen made a fifty. The rain played a spoilsport and in the end, the Kiwis won the match by just 7 runs by the DLS method. Quinton de Cock was unbeaten on 84 along with David Miller on 18 and they were going well but when the rain interrupted, they were 7 runs behind the DLS score.
Team Netherlands
The Dutch side has made it into this World Cup and perhaps this is one of their biggest achievements so far. The ICC CWC Qualifiers 2023 was held recently and the Netherlands was outstanding throughout the tournament. Both Sri Lanka and the Netherlands entered the final and ultimately qualified for the ICC CWC 2023. Scott Edwards, the skipper has been brilliant for his side so far.
The veteran Roelof Van der Merwe and Max O’Dowd are part of the squad. Vikramjit Singh is a fine opener. Bas de Leede is a promising all-rounder. Colin Ackermann and Wesley Barresi are the experienced campaigners. A young bright star Teja Nidamanaru would be a key player in the middle order. Paul van Meekeren, Logan van Beek, Ryan Klein and Aryan Dutt will be handling the bowling department.
The ICC organized ICC CWC 2023 warm-up matches to help the teams get familiar with Indian pitches. The Netherlands played one against Australia where they fought very well. They restricted Australia in a rain-hit game on 166 for 7 in a 23-over game. Logan van Beek, Roelof Van der Merwe and Bas de Leede picked up 2 wickets each. It was a good fight with the bowl. In response, the batters disappointed their fans and the top order failed miserably. The rain interrupted again and the match had no result. The second game against India was cancelled due to heavy rain.
